Welcome to Calcedeaver Elementary School's Web Page!

My name is Aimee Rainey and I am so proud to be the principal at Calcedeaver. This is my fifth year serving the Calcedeaver community. We have a wonderful school with a dedicated faculty. Our school has been featured in numerous publications including: Working Towards Excellence, a newsletter of the Alabama Best Practices Center, Alabama School Boards, Mobile Register, Birmingham News, etc. Many of these publications are available for viewing in the school office, as well as, online.  I would like to congratulate the students, faculty, staff, and parents for a job well done.  I would also like to encourage you to keep up the good work and continue to make Calcedeaver a huge success.

We also have two interesting exhibits that are unique to Calcedeaver. We have the Simple Machines Learning Station and the Native American Culture Exhibit. The Simple Machines Station includes pulleys, levers, inclined planes, and a wheel and axle. Children are able to maneuver the simple machines and learn about friction, force, and work.  The Native American Culture Exhibit features six dwellings. We offer educational tours with a personal guide who describes each structure. This guide answers any questions, shares a Native legend, and escorts participants to the dance arena where the different dance styles are performed. Tours are available throughout the school year. Please call the school to make a reservation for your students to attend these wonderful learning experiences.

Each year we have a Culture Festival. This year it will be on November 21, 2008. We would like to invite you to join us for this grand event!

We welcome you to our school and hope that you visit us soon!
